History

Oklahoma Performing Arts, Inc. (OPA) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization classified as a public charity with a 509(a)2 educational status. OPA is formulated and focused on quality arts education, with a strong emphasis on community and service. With an overwhelming request to experience performances of these talented children, objectives of volunteer service have been established and curriculum developed to facilitate long-term success. With this structure, Oklahoma Performing Arts is set in a strategic position to encourage and enlighten various communities and organizations through the education and talents of its members.
Every individual deserves the opportunity to develop and empower his or her character through the classical arts training and community service programs and presentations.

Our mission is the lifeblood of Oklahoma Performing Arts. OPA members, students, parents, faculty, staff and Board of Directors are a unified group striving to meet the needs of children in the community.  We believe that performing arts such as ours teach self esteem, leadership skills, the importance of community giving, dedication, loyalty, and discipline. Reaching out to the community gives our students an opportunity to work as examples of all of these virtues.

Oklahoma Performing Arts, Inc. (OPA) began its nonprofit roots in 1996, establishing Tulsa Youth Ballet in 2002 and Tulsa Metro Youth Orchestra and Monica Huggins Dance Theatre in 2005. In August 2009 Oklahoma Performing Arts, Inc. announced the creation of a new division, Dance Arts Oklahoma (DAO). DAO is the division that includes the adult dance companies of OPA, which are Monica Huggins Dance Theatre. Oklahoma Performing Arts, Inc. has programs in Dance,  Voice, Acting, and Music making for a well-rounded, well-trained artist. Our internationally trained and experienced faculty members are either accredited and/or professionals in their industry.
